Beijing accuses Washington of being at the origin of the crisis in Ukraine through its plan to deliver arms to kyiv.
The tone is hardening between China and the United States. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning on Monday accused the United States of “triggering the crisis in Ukraine” and “being the main factor fueling it” by supplying heavy weapons in kyiv, reports Bloomberg.
On January 24, the American administration had accused Chinese public companies of assisting Russia militarily and economically, without detailing the nature and extent of this aid.
“Unfounded suspicions”
“Unfounded suspicions” and “unfounded blackmail”, according to Beijing, which accuses Washington of having “sown paranoia”.
“If they really care regarding the Ukrainian people they should stop their arms shipments,” she added.
This toughening of tone comes a few days before the visit of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, expected in Beijing on Sunday and Monday.
