Mobile Film Festival
Deadline: Saturday February 4
The International Festival of Mobile Filmmaker accepts applications from professional and amateur filmmakers. Films must be between one and 60 minutes long, be in English or have English subtitles. Winners in each category will receive prizes.
Journalism Scholarship
Deadline: Monday, February 6
Mid-career journalists are invited to apply for the Journalism Scholarship Program of the Archyde.com Institute for the Study of Journalism. Winners will have the opportunity to critically reflect on their profession, research a topic of their choice, and much more. Applicants should have at least five years of journalism experience and strong English skills.
Environmental reporting workshop
Deadline: Monday, February 6
L’Institut Metcalf opened applications for its annual science immersion workshop for journalists. Participants will receive a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of research practice, climate science and more. Journalists of color are strongly encouraged to apply.
Freedom of the press competition
Deadline: Wednesday, February 15
Journalists, organizations or institutions that promote press freedom can be nominated for the World Press Freedom Prize UNESCO/Guillermo Cano. Nominations should be written in English or French and include a brief biography or background of the nominee. Winners will receive a prize of US$25,000.
Environmental Journalism Program
Deadline: Wednesday, February 15
The Logan Marine Biology Laboratory Science Journalism ProgramUniversity of Chicago organizes two workshops for science and environmental journalists who wish to learn more regarding basic biomedical and environmental research. A journalistic experience of at least three years is required to apply.
Partner program
Deadline: Monday, February 20
Local newsrooms around the world are now invited to apply for the partnership program of Report for the World, which connects newsrooms with talented emerging journalists to report on low-profile topics. Participants will benefit from mentorship and more.
photography scholarship
Deadline: Tuesday, February 21
Photographers Without Borders is accepting applications for its Revolutionary Storyteller Fellowship. Five photographic projects with a strong impact on the protection of land and/or water will be selected and will receive a grant of US$5,000.
Reporting award
Deadline: Tuesday, February 21
Journalists working on a low-profile public service project are invited to apply for the Journalism Institute Reporting Award Arthur L. Carter from New York University. Winners will receive up to US$12,500, office space and more.
