LAfter dismissing the rumors of his retirement and later announcing that he is still looking for a team in European cycling, Nairo Quintana confirmed that he was going to run the National Road Championships on February 5 in Bucaramanga despite the fact that at first he did not have it in his plans.
The Colombian Cycling Federation convinced Quintana to compete to make his event more attractive and also to strengthen the Colombian National Team that will be on the roads of Bumangues. A strange move that benefits Nairo.
Initially, It was thought that he was going to run as an independent runner, with the Boyac team and even with the uniform of his brand ‘Nairo’ being a federated broker; However, days following signing his registration, more details of his participation came to light.
Nairo Quintana will integrate the Colombian National Team led by Carlos Mario Jaramillo and where there will be some young cyclists who will serve as gregarious to be placed next to the best of the competition who do attend these Nationals with more weighty companions and/or the jersey of their respective team.
Besides Nairo Quintana, the other big names on the Nationals are Miguel Ángel López, Esteban Chaves, Egan Bernal, Daniel Martínez, Rigoberto Urn and Iner Rubio.
