Three years ago, La Quadrature du Net, an association for the defense of digital freedoms, launched the Technopolice initiative to identify and counter new police technologies in our cities. For this first event in the Paris region, we want to shed light on an event that is fast approaching and will transform our cities: the 2024 Olympic Games.
Under the pretext of their “exceptional” dimension, the Olympics will be an accelerator of surveillance. They will make technologies that are currently prohibited legal, first of all algorithmic video surveillance, but also install hundreds of video surveillance cameras in public spaces in the Ile-de-France region.
To organize the fight once morest this event and the trivialization of surveillance in our daily lives, we offer a moment of debate, exchange and celebration.
Saturday January 14th at the Flèche d’or
102 bis rue de Bagnolet, PARIS
6:30 p.m
presentation of the Technopolice initiative (by La Quadrature du Net)
discussion/debate with Saccage 2024 activists and researchers on the political use of the Olympic Games in the deployment of surveillance in Île-de-France.
