Chelsea recruits the 7th rookie who is a defender less than 20 years old

Chelsea have officially announced the recruitment of young defender Malo Gusto from Lyon, their 7th rookie in January 2023.

Malo Gusto is a young French-Portuguese talent, highly appreciated for his stable performance in Lyon over the past time. According to British media, the price that the Blues have to pay for this player born in May 2003 is quite comfortable, only regarding 26 million pounds (excluding costs incurred).

This is Chelsea’s 7th rookie in the January 2023 transfer window. Previously, The Blues signed 6 players, Benoit Badiashile (Monaco), David Fofana (Molde), Andrey Santos (Vasco da Gama), Mykhailo Mudryk (Shakhtar Donetsk), Noni Madueke (PSV Eindhoven) and Joao Felix (Atletico) Madrid, loan).

The arrival of defender Malo Gusto helps Chelsea have more options in the right corridor, where they only have Reece James as reliable. Although less than 20 years old, Gusto has had 3 seasons in Ligue 1 with a total of 47 appearances.

After joining Chelsea, Malo Gusto will stay at Lyon on loan until the end of this season and will officially play for the Blues from the 2023/24 season.

Although they have recruited 7 rookies, Chelsea may not stop at this transfer window, because they are looking to buy 1 more striker in the context of disappointing Aubameyang.
