Family, friends and neighbors of the Villanueva neighborhood blocked race 23, between streets 53 D and 55, in front of the Legal Medicine facilities in Barranquilla to protest with posters and white balloons demanding the delivery of the body of Eder García González, 13 years oldwho died last Sunday by immersion in the Magdalena River and his body was found 48 hours later.
“Here in Legal Medicine they tell us that they cannot take his fingerprints to identify him, because they were lost due to being underwater for a long time. They are going to do a DNA test, but they tell us that the result is due within 3 months. That can’t be possible for the body to stay here for a long time.” said one of the relatives.
He assured that the community is willing to collect money to do the DNA test in a particular way, where the result is in a matter of days.
“The process in Legal Medicine is very long. We want a solution, that they deliver the body to us quickly. The corpse was recognized even by his own parents,” commented another of the protest participants.
A police patrol was present at the scene. The uniformed officers entered the Legal Medicine offices with the parents and an agreement was reached to expedite the DNA test.
In this way, the protesters lifted the road blockade.
It should be remembered that the minor disappeared last Sunday when he was bathing in the Magdalena River with two friends and did not surface once more.
His body was found on Tuesday in the same sector where he disappeared, at the height of the Villanueva neighborhood of Barranquilla.
