Ikea, the light pouring from the ceiling ‘water gurgling’… Elevator stuck accident

At an IKEA store in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province, a ceiling leak occurred and a customer was trapped in an elevator.

According to the fire department on the 28th, at 6:09 pm on the same day, at the IKEA Gwangmyeong store in Iljik-dong, Gwangmyeong-si, water poured into the business premises due to a ceiling leak. Also, elevators 7 and 9 stopped. At the time, there were three people on board in Unit 7 and six in Unit 9.

The fire brigade dispatched to the scene rescued 6 and 3 people, respectively, from the elevator where the trapped accident occurred. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

Regarding the ceiling leak, the fire authorities assumed that the cause was a frozen water pipe.

The fire authorities closed the business early due to concerns regarding safety accidents and forced customers to leave.

The police and fire authorities plan to take follow-up measures such as site safety inspections.
