Timo Meier and the San Jose Sharks suffer a bitter defeat in the NHL. His team recklessly lost a two-goal lead once morest the Carolina Hurricanes in the closing minutes.

When Mario Ferraro scored into the empty goal 112 seconds before the end of regular time for the visiting team to make it 4-2, the San Jose Sharks’ first win following their last three defeats seemed assured. But just 15 seconds later, Sebastian Aho reduced Carolina’s lead to 3-4, and 12 seconds before the siren, Marin Necas equalized for the home team. It was the Czech who ultimately helped the Hurricanes win with his second goal of the night following 55 seconds of overtime.

Like Timo Meier, the remaining five Swiss players who were deployed on Saturday night did not have a scorer point. Kevin Fiala won 4-3 in Florida with the Los Angeles Kings for the third straight game. Nico Hischier and Jonas Siegenthaler returned to winning ways with the New Jersey Devils in a 3-2 win following overtime in Dallas following two recent defeats.

There were defeats for Pius Suter with the Detroit Red Wings (0:2 with the New York Islanders) and Tim Berni with the Columbus Blue Jackets (2:5 in Vancouver).
