The 2nd edition of the Mohammed V International Forum for Tolerance and Peace recalls the unprecedented experience of Morocco

The second edition of the Mohammed V International Forum for Tolerance and Peace, organized Friday in videoconference mode, celebrated the values ​​of coexistence and peace that have always characterized Moroccan society over several centuries.

The positions of the late Mohammed V who protected the Jewish community in Morocco were recalled during this meeting which was organized on the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The speakers recalled in this regard that Morocco was and still is a land of coexistence, peace and encounter between different religions and civilizations.

Organized by the Moroccan Center for Tolerance and Interreligious Dialogue on the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day, the forum spoke at length regarding the courageous positions and in favor of peace and coexistence of the late Mohammed V , recalling the late Sovereign’s approach to tolerance and the consolidation of the cohesion of the Moroccan people with all its national and religious components, as well as His commitment to defending the human values ​​of living together and coexistence between all religions and cultures.

The participants in this 2nd edition of the Mohammed V International Forum for Tolerance and Peace also highlighted the historic position of the late Sovereign with regard to the protection of the Jewish community in Morocco once morest the authorities of the protectorate under the Vichy government. ally of the Nazis, as well as His great role in the consecration of the values ​​of coexistence between all religions and cultures.

They also underlined the great interest taken by the late Hassan II in the Hebrew affluent of Moroccan society, then by King Mohammed VI, who made Morocco a pioneering civilizational example of coexistence, and a country integrated into the Mediterranean area. , African, Arab and international, thanks to the cohesion of all its components and its identity with multiple tributaries.

For his part, Father Jean-Baptiste, head of the Catholic Church of Tetouan, affirmed that the forum highlights on the one hand the values ​​of tolerance and coexistence which have always characterized Morocco and on the other light on the lessons to be drawn from certain painful events in the history of humanity, so that they do not happen once more in the future.

This forum saw the participation by videoconference of several speakers from different faiths and cultures of Morocco, Europe, Asia and America.
