According to the sharing of People’s Artist Ta Minh Tam, director Pham Ngoc Chau – the “father” of series such as Taxi, Across the River, Colored Candy… passed away at the age of 65 due to illness at 3:41 pm on the followingnoon of January 27. Director Pham Ngoc Chau was born in 1959 in Ho Chi Minh City. He studied at the Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema and the Faculty of Literature, University of Ho Chi Minh City. He can take on many roles such as screenwriter, director in the field of film and television.

Director Pham Ngoc Chau is known to the audience through films such as Taxi, Punch, Mother and Son, Haunting, Butterfly Eye…

In particular, the movie “Taxi” attracts viewers with its youthful features and behind-the-scenes stories of the driver’s profession. The seemingly dry profession through the hands of director Pham Ngoc Chau brings many interesting things. Real-life situations such as drivers participating in delivery, catching robbers … are included to make the film more attractive and closer.

During his career, director Pham Ngoc Chau also achieved many achievements like the movie The wharf won the B Prize of the Silver Lotus of the Vietnam Film Festival in 1993, the film Colored candies Won the Silver Award at the 1997 Drama Festival.

Sharing on his personal page, People’s Artist Ta Minh Tam expressed: “Director Pham Ngoc Chau, my dear friend, has rushed to the other side of the river. I did not have time to see him off, very sorry.”

Director Ba Cuong revealed that following his father, director Pham Ngoc Chau was a great influence in the development of his personality and way of doing business.

“Besides my father, I am also the one who applies steel discipline to train you and nurture you during your young years. You are the one who dares to give me the opportunity so that I can work as a deputy director for the first time since I left. an actor who went through the director’s job. I can’t count how many credits I can mention!” – Director Ba Cuong was moved.

Information from the family’s statement said that director Ngoc Chau’s coffin was laid to rest at the Funeral Home of District 4, No. 2 Ton That Thuyet, Ward 18, District 4.

The visitation ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m. on January 28. The funeral ceremony begins at 2pm on January 30, then cremated at Da Phuoc cemetery, Binh Chanh, Ho Chi Minh City.
