LOS ANGELES, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) — The United States has reported a total of 91 pediatric flu deaths since the start of the season, according to the latest data released Friday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. (CDC).
According to CDC estimates, there have been at least 25 million illnesses, 280,000 hospitalizations and 17,000 deaths from influenza this season in the United States.
About 4,000 people were hospitalized with the flu in the past week ending Jan. 21, the data showed. Six influenza-associated pediatric deaths have been reported this week.
The CDC recommends that anyone over the age of 6 months get an annual flu shot as long as influenza activity continues. End
