Artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, robotics, drones. Not at all futuristic, these technologies are already present and reorganizing the labor market. The 2021 Technology and Innovation Report, launched by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, points out that so-called high technology is rapidly developing and represents a market of 350 billion dollars. In this vein, professions in the technology area continue to grow and, at the same time, change.
A professional who continually assesses the risks related to sensitive data, helping companies to develop procedures on how to handle this information appropriately. Unthinkable before Big Data, privacy analyst is one of the jobs that has grown the most in the last five years, according to LinkedIn. In the list, with 25 functions, almost all are related to the technology sector – which reflects current market trends.
Glassdoor, the American vacancy and salary website, has just launched the “Best Jobs in America 2022” in which technology also stands out as the most cited area. Data scientist, software engineer and product manager are in the top 10 ranking for earning potential (average salary), job satisfaction and job opportunities.
Roberto Mario Lazcano Gomez, specialist in Technological Innovations and Information Technology, says that in the last three years the digital transformation in companies has made great progress and lists what he considers the four main areas of activity: specialists in IoT (Internet of Things) , information security experts, software developer and data scientist.
The IoT specialist covers networking and connecting objects to the internet. “When connected, these objects transmit data that can make life easier for those who use them. It is estimated that there are more than 10 billion IoT devices worldwide,” says Gomez. The outlook is for even greater growth. For him, 5G networks will enhance the fusion of computers and smartphones to items used on a daily basis, such as household appliances, means of transport, clothing and rooms in the house, for example.
The performance in information security encompasses several positions that are at the forefront of dealing with cyber incidents, whether to “assess and mitigate the risks inherent in the infrastructure of information systems” of companies, as well as in the development of solutions to combat threats and in the elaboration of policies that regulate data protection.
The software development area, responsible for programming systems by writing digital codes, has gained relevance with the increase in access to so-called “digital content”, such as websites, social networks and applications. While the data scientist starts to gain more importance from the large volume of information handled by companies in the use of these various contents. It is up to the professional to “collect and interpret this information”, says Gomez, so that the data guides business decisions and “allows them to take advantages in the market with respect to their competitors”, he adds.
At the same time, the new professions leveraged innovations in recent years that feed back. “5G, metaverse, automation and Cloud or Cloud Computing” are examples cited by the specialist of technologies that are generating changes in the way of buying, working and advancing in certain areas that are important to humanity, such as medicine.
Various surveys on the labor market support that technology will remain a promising sector in the coming years. For the specialist in Technological Innovations, the great challenge in the country is to meet the demand for qualified professionals in technology that already exists and which will increase in the next three years.
What is beyond doubt, according to him, is that all market segments in Brazil are already investing in the technology sector “because they need to optimize their processes and improve their operations” and that companies will continue to invest to “increase digitalization or create a new business and increase its chances of success”, he concludes.
