On January 27, the Conservation Society Historic England said that the wreck found off the southern coast of England has been identified as a shipwreck. battleship Klein Hollandia (Netherlands) was wrecked following a surprise attack in 1672.
The Klein Hollandia was “identified” following research by Historic England and the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) and the Maritime Archeology Society.
The wreck was once known as the “Unidentified Wreck off Eastbourne” following being discovered 32 meters below the surface of the water near this coastal resort in 2019.
Artifacts found on the seabed include mostly wooden hulls, cannons, Italian marble and pieces of Italian pottery. The researchers examined the materials found, analyzing the wood rings of the wood samples to identify the ship.
