Unusual – A 45-year-old biotech entrepreneur claims to have rejuvenated his body by 5 years

Bryan Johnson, a 45-year-old biotech entrepreneur, has developed an ambitious anti-aging program, dubbed Blueprint, of which he is the first participant, and claims to have biologically “rejuvenated” years, according to Bloomberg.

Medical tests have indeed revealed that he now has the heart of a 37-year-old man and the lung capacity of an 18-year-old.

The American entrepreneur Bryan Johnson, passionate regarding technology, is notably at the head of Kernel, which creates devices for monitoring and analyzing brain activity, in October 2021, he launched the Blueprint project, the objective of which is to reversing the biological age of every organ in the human body as much as possible.

The program is led by Dr Oliver Zolman, a specialist in regenerative medicine and founder of 20one Consulting Ltd, a company that studies and tests therapies aimed at reversing the processes of aging; it is also backed by over 30 health experts.

To rejuvenate his body, Bryan followed a very rigorous daily program and underwent a multitude of body tests, he also shelled out nearly $2 million a year, according to Bloomberg.

+ The body of an 18 year old +

“He wants to have the brain, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, tendons, teeth, skin, hair, bladder, penis and rectum of an 18-year-old,” sums up the journalist Ashlee Vance.

To do this, Johnson follows strict guidelines: his diet, exclusively vegan, is limited to 1977 calories per day. Each day, he begins by swallowing two dozen supplements and medications (lycopene, turmeric, zinc, metformin, lithium, etc.) known to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and other benefits; more than half are eaten once more at dinner time.

He does one hour of physical activity every day, three of which are at “high intensity”. However, he gives his body the rest it deserves: he goes to bed at the same time every day, following taking a melatonin tablet and wearing blue light-blocking glasses for two hours — which, in addition to disrupting sleep regulation, is known to accelerate the aging of the retina.

The largest organ of his body, namely his skin, benefits from special care to repair the damage caused by the sun: no less than seven creams applied daily, as well as weekly peelings and laser treatments.

To control the effects of this rigorous program, he constantly monitors his biological markers: weight, fat level, temperature, blood sugar, heart rate, sight, hearing, etc. In addition, he undergoes dozens of medical examinations each month, such as blood, stool and urine tests, as well as MRIs and colonoscopies.

“What I’m doing may seem extreme, but I’m trying to prove that self-destruction and decay are not inevitable,” Johnson told Bloomberg.

+ “I feel happier” +

Doctors’ tests show Johnson now has the heart of a 37-year-old, the skin of a 28-year-old and the lung capacity of an 18-year-old. “All of the markers we track have improved remarkably,” said Dr. Jeff Toll, one of the team members.

Some parts of his body show an even more pronounced rejuvenation: doctors report that his gums and the rhythm of his nocturnal erections are similar to those of a 17-year-old teenager!
Eventually, these intense efforts resulted in a world record epigenetic age reversal of 5.1 years, and a slowing of his aging rate by 24%, according to the person concerned.

Over a hundred of his biomarkers correspond to an age below his true age and he would have the overall physical condition of an 18-year-old.

“Now I feel happier, more alive and fulfilled than at any time in my life. I’m nicer to those around me, I’m no longer irritable and I have a clear mind,” he wrote on the site dedicated to the project.

The procedure is not without risk and must of course be supervised by professionals: during this extraordinary experiment, Johnson saw his body fat percentage drop as low as 3%, which threatened his heart health. To quickly solve the problem, his team adjusted his diet, distributing the calories differently.

A recent injection of fat in the face has also caused an impressive allergic reaction, reports the Bloomberg journalist.

The aim of the intervention was to build a scaffolding of fat in order to restart the production of fat cells – this gradually decreases with age.

According to his doctors, he is regarding to undergo much more experimental procedures, including gene therapies.

In the meantime, his entire program, including the recipes for his various meals and the description of his daily physical training, as well as the results obtained so far, are detailed on his site.

He also created the Rejuventaiton Olympics site, which establishes a ranking of the 1750 people in the world who are trying to fight once morest the effects of time; Johnson currently holds the top spot and hopes others will want to follow her program following learning regarding her dramatic results.
