A 29-year-old woman fraudulently attended a US high school for four days before being arrested last week.
Parents of students at New Brunswick High School in New Jersey are concerned regarding the intentions of the woman, Hyejeong Shin.
Some students fear that she has gone undercover to lure them into the sex work business.
A student allegedly received a text message from the woman on Jan. 23 at 10:56 p.m., days following her arrest, reports New Brunswick Today.
“I was in class with this woman, I talked to her, I accompanied her from point A to point B, I never thought this kind of thing might happen,” she told the newspaper. New Brunswick Today.
The 29-year-old allegedly enrolled at New Brunswick High School in New Jersey using fake documents, NBC News reports.
During her time at the school as a student, Ms. Shin reportedly spent a lot of time with guidance counselors, according to school authorities.
These advisers would have tried to find out more regarding him.
School staff eventually unmasked the subterfuge.
Ms Shin is now accused of using a fake birth certificate ‘for the purpose of enrolling herself as a child in school’.
Authorities don’t know how many genuine students have been in contact with her, but the school administration urges them to avoid contact with Hyejeong Shin.
In New Jersey, schools are required by law to immediately enroll any child without parental guidance, even if certain required documents are missing, reports NBC News.
