Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, Dr. Dr. Quach Van Kien – Department of Digestive Surgery, Viet Duc Hospital said that during the Tet holidays, the number of patients hospitalized due to traffic accidents decreased more than last year, however, the number of cases increased by the day from the 1st to the 4th.
“The number of patients with alcohol content accounts for only 15-20% of the total number of traffic accidents hospitalized, which is very encouraging when the law on banning the use of alcohol when participating in traffic is implemented. seriously,” said Dr. Kien.
The doctor also said that this year, the emergency situation and injury treatment during the Tet holidays are much lighter than in the previous year.
“This year, there is no overcrowding of the operating room. If last year, the number of patients requiring mechanical ventilation due to cranial surgery was high, even fewer patients had to be transferred to medical facilities around Hanoi for arrangement. Early surgery, there are still 3 operating rooms in the hospital for the staff to perform cranial as well as trauma surgeries” – Dr. Kien informed.
On duty at the hospital on the 1st and 5th of the Lunar New Year, nurse Tran Thi Nhan – Department of Medical Examination – Viet Duc Hospital said – emergency cases decreased compared to previous years.

As expected, today is the last day of the Lunar New Year holiday, so the number of people moving to Hanoi will be crowded. Therefore, the Emergency Department, Viet Duc Hospital has maintained an emergency team of regarding 20 doctors with full specialties.
However, doctors recommend that vehicle drivers do not drink alcohol, wear full helmets, control the speed to avoid risks on the road.
According to the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment – the Ministry of Health, during the Lunar New Year of the year 2023, traffic accidents increased the number of hospital admissions, but decreased the number of deaths compared to the 2022 Lunar New Year.
