Rabat – The National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) recently organized, in collaboration with the local authorities and the municipal council of Lalla Mimouna, an information and awareness day for the benefit of the populations and local actors on the liquid sanitation project in the center of Lalla Mimouna in the province of Kenitra.
This day, held on January 17, included a presentation of the project and its components and was an opportunity for discussion with local actors and representatives of the population, in order to inform them regarding the new liquid sanitation project in the center. Lalla Mimouna and its positive impact and make them aware of the importance of liquid sanitation for the preservation of the environment and the sustainable management of water resources, indicates a press release from ONEE.
This project, the cost of which amounts to 80 million dirhams, is carried out by ONEE with the financial support of the French Development Agency (AFD), the German Development Bank (KFW), the European Bank of Investment (EIB) and the European Union (EU).
It consists of the construction and equipment of a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 1186 m3 /d, two pumping stations, a 5 km linear discharge pipe and the laying of a new wastewater collection network over a length of 45 km as well as the construction of more than 2,500 connections for the benefit of a beneficiary population estimated at 15,767 inhabitants.
This major project is part of the National Program for Mutualized Liquid Sanitation and the Reuse of Treated Wastewater (PNAM), just as the Lalla Mimouna center is one of the centers registered under the Strategic Plan for Integrated Development and Sustainable rural communities in the province of Kenitra.
It will improve the living conditions of the beneficiary populations and the preservation of water resources, and will also contribute to the socio-economic development of the Lalla Mimouna commune.
