Flavio Mendoza and his son Dionisio became the target of criticism from a group of American conservatives, who manipulated a capture of a video of the Stravaganza show and caused a new controversy. Due, the choreographer suffered the closure of his Instagram account.
But, the most unfortunate thing regarding the situation was that the ruthless message ended up being replicated by Eduardo, son of Jair Bolsonaroformer president of Brazil.
It all started when the American conservative politician and activist Charlie Kirk echoed the viralization of a photo of Flavio in which he appears holding the microphone to his son, at the height of the little boy’s head during a performance of the play he is leading. .
The image caused a wave of messages indicating that the microphone was very close to Mendoza’s private parts. And Kirk took hold of that malicious vision to publish it on his Twitter account with the following sentence: “File this photo next to the things that make you support the death penalty”.
A while later, he saw the full video and made a clarification regarding it. “The photo is of an Argentine gay couple (artists) and their son, and it seems to be a bad angle. The boy was nervous regarding being in front of a crowd and wouldn’t let go of the man’s leg, so he lowered the microphone into the boy’s face. He left it to give you context“, wrote.
Despite the correction, Eduardo Bolsonaro, a federal deputy for the state of São Paulo, also posted the photo in question on his Twitter account. “In one image, the summary of the decadence of the West“, wrote.
Flavio did not remain silent and went out to respond to the attack. “Someone uploaded a photo of me and my son from a horrible angle maliciously and they blocked my Instagram. Please report any photo or person behind this, thanks”, he posted on Twitter.
He then added: “I don’t understand why there are so many people behind a keyboard doing damage. How miserable are their lives? And worse those who comment with just the fact that someone answers them. Winning? For now I’m going to use Instagram @soyflaviomendoza until I get mine back.”
“Someone maliciously uploaded a photo of me and my son from an angle totally taken out of context and they closed my Instagram, messing with a child and my image. Does it bother you to be happy? Does it bother you that he’s a gay man who managed to be a father and a successful career? It looks like it is. Well, one more fight that they are not going to win,” Mendoza closed.
In addition to downloading on social networks, Mendoza gave an interview on television where he expanded his position a little more. “Here there is homophobia, discrimination, violation of human rights and the violation of the rights of a child, mainly. My son is public, but this image, as it is posted and how it is taken, is doing him great damage. We live in a very cruel and prejudiced society.”, he sentenced.
