Alectomy: understand procedure that made woman lose part of her nose

The dentist responsible for making beautician Elielma Carvalho Braga lose part of her nose was indicted for illegally practicing medicine and serious bodily injury last Monday (2/23). The procedure, called an alectomy, can only be performed by doctors who specialize in plastic surgery.

The victim, who lives in Aparecida de Goiânia (GO), had to undergo several surgeries to reconstruct her nose. Elielma’s face was deformed and full of scars. In addition, some interventions were necessary for her to regain the ability to breathe through her nostrils.
