Borussia Dortmund continued its good results following the German Football League (Bundesliga) resumed its competitions following the winter break, following achieving an impressive 2-1 victory at its host Mainz on Wednesday in the seventeenth stage of the competition.
Dortmund’s balance, which achieved its second consecutive victory in the competition, rose to 31 points, to advance to third place temporarily until the end of the rest of the stage matches.
On the other hand, Mainz’s credit, which was absent from victories for the sixth consecutive match in the competition, stopped at 20 points in twelfth place.
The match was characterized by excitement from the first minutes, as Mainz scored an early goal, signed by South Korean Lee Jae-sung in the second minute, but Dortmund soon equalized in the fourth minute by Norwegian Julian Ryerson.
And while everyone was preparing for the match to end in a 1-1 draw, Dortmund snatched the three points, following its young American star, Giovanni Reina, scored the deadly winning goal in the third minute of calculated time instead of lost for the second half.
Dortmund had also achieved an exciting 4-3 victory over its guest Augsburg, at the start of his career in the competition, which resumed its activities following a hiatus of more than two months due to the holding of the World Cup finals in Qatar and the winter break.
