Kochi – In the incident of assaulting a young woman who was a victim of visa fraud at Ravipuram in Ernakulam city, the accused targeted Muhammad Ali, a native of Aluva, the owner of the establishment. Muhammad Ali had promised to give a work visa to Jolly, a native of Palluruthi, to Lithuania in 2019, just before Covid. His statement is that he bought five lakh rupees for this and whenever he asked, he went away without paying. When Jolly reached their office today, the employee informed that the owner of Rais Travels was not there. Jolly stabbed them in the neck with a knife.
Surya, a resident of Thodupuzha, who sustained a serious neck injury, has survived the accident. They were first taken to Ernakulam General Hospital and then to a nearby private hospital as advised for specialist treatment. The doctors have suggested surgery for the young woman who is being treated in the ICU.
Those in the nearby shops say that Muhammad Ali, the owner of Travels, who was present at the time of the stabbing of the employee, immediately left without taking the vehicle. He was escaping from the place without even taking his own car. Meanwhile, following taking the woman to the hospital, he surrendered to the police and gave a statement.
∙ Looked for a stick, got a knife
Jolly revealed that he had come with the intention of killing the owner of Reiss Travels, who had extorted money by promising to give him a visa. It was expected that the owner of the establishment would arrive when he stabbed the woman and then attack him as well. Jolly also stated that following stabbing the woman, he remained there without trying to escape so that the owner would come.
After being stabbed, the woman ran to the hotel opposite the establishment with a bleeding wound. When the hotel staff came to know regarding the information, the accused was still there. Asked why he did this, Jolly replied that his money was stolen and the owner was targeted.
At the same time, Jolly said that he tried to organize a stick to kill the owner of the establishment, but he did not get it and he came with it because the one he got was a knife.
∙ Purchased Rs.34,400; The owner is mentally ill
Muhammad Ali, the owner of Reiss Travel Bureau, says that he bought only 34,400 rupees from Jolly to issue a work visa to Lithuania and this was returned. Jolie got a visa for one year but was unable to go due to the covid crisis. The visa expires following one year. Later, he returned the money saying that he did not need a visa and was in financial crisis. But those who applied with him went to Bengaluru for visa but their application was rejected.
In the meantime, he used to ask many times if there is any job vacancy. Even when he came today, he was not at the place and informed that he would be there shortly. It was at this time that the young woman was attacked. This organization has been running for the past 16 years. No one has filed a complaint yet. Jolie has a mental illness.
