Crossfit practice has several health and aesthetic benefits. Training with high-impact exercises became popular in Brazil, but still raises questions among practitioners.
Professor and doctor Átila Alexandre Trapé, from the School of Physical Education and Sport of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (EEFERP-USP), clarifies some of them and gives tips for beginners.
Do CrossFit beginners have exercise restrictions?
“I believe that there is not such a great specificity related to the exercise, but in general, thinking that the most important thing is not to add overload in a movement that is not being performed well. This is from the point of view of technique and joint mobility. Crossfit has a series of more complex exercises that the student will only do when he is prepared”, says Trapé.
There is a price to be paid when investing in quality. The expert cites the importance of a qualified professional so that crossfit training gives results for both beginners and veterans.
“It is also important to highlight that we have progressions and regressions of the exercises. So, mainly in this sense, training in a place where you have teachers who can guide you well means adapting the movements you cannot perform at that moment and performing regressions”, he advises.
