Since the publication of the circular of October 06, 2022 from the Ministry of Agriculture relating to AMO (Compulsory Health Insurance) for farmers, the drip irrigation sector is in a very delicate situation which has already caused the bankruptcy of several dozen companies, according to the AMIAG.
It is dismay. Operators in the drip irrigation sector no longer know where to turn. While the impact of the Covid-19 health crisis on companies in the sector continues, they must now face new constraints. These are regulatory constraints that put business at risk. According to the Moroccan Association of Sprinkler and Drip Irrigation (AMIAG), the sector suffers from two major constraints: one is linked to the circular of October 06 from the Ministry of Agriculture relating to AMO and the he other concerns the pumping authorization procedure, which also benefited from a circular deemed problematic by professionals. It should be noted that the circular on AMO relates to the alignment of the procedures for granting incentives from the FDA (Agricultural Development Fund) to the conditions laid down for the generalization of compulsory basic health insurance for farmers.

In order to discuss this delicate situation, the AMIAG organized a meeting on January 21 in Casablanca. No less than 120 companies from the sector took part. The participants thus discussed these various constraints and their disastrous impact on the business. At the end of the meeting, the AMIAG and its members took a number of measures aimed at allowing them to be heard in order to draw the attention of the Minister of Agriculture to the complications caused by the circular of his department. As a reminder, the drip irrigation sector has at least 1500 companies. According to the AMIAG, many companies in the sector are already bankrupt because of this situation, and hundreds of others are in the process of filing for bankruptcy.
