The data was presented at the GitHub Universe event, which took place at the end of last year. There are regarding 1 million Brazilian developers who joined the system in 2022.

Other countries in Latin America also recorded growth, according to the calculation. With an increase of 41%, Argentina has 694 thousand people developers, while Colombia, with 33%, has more than 660 thousand people in the sub-area, and Chile, which presented growth of 27% and more than 345 thousand users.

Leonardo Pasquali, CEO of Pasquali Solution (Brazil) and Titan Clarity (USA), observes that the Software Development subarea draws attention for always continuing to grow, regardless of the country’s economic moment, even if a little less in an unfavorable economic scenario in general.

Regarding investments in the sub-area, the specialist considers that “in a time of crisis, companies rush and decide to invest thinking regarding cost reduction, while, in a positive moment, companies tend to invest to leverage their businesses and continue to grow” .

Pasquali, informs that the IT market has remained heated for more than two decades, something that is due, for example, to large companies that lack a more robust digital transformation, in addition to those that have been transformed for some time, but that lack constant updates and adaptation to new technological trends.

With regard to the growing demand for qualified professionals in the area of information technology, according to the study “Demand of Talents in ICT and ΣTCEM Strategy”, published by the Brazilian Association of Information and Communication Technology Companies (Brasscom), from 2021 to By 2025, it is estimated that technology companies will have around 797,000 vacancies for people trained in technological profile courses – however, the report also projects an annual deficit of 106,000 talents.

Corroborating with data reported by Brasscom, the CEO of Pasquali Solution states that it is already known that there are more jobs than professionals in the area. “It is important that people know that this happens all over the world, not just in Brazil. It’s hard to hire in general for any area of IT. It is generally even more difficult to hire professionals for the systems development and information security subareas, for example”, analyzes the professional.

For the next steps as a specialist in Data Science, Pasquali points out that the decisive power of both consumers and businessmen tends to become dependent on this technology, leaving room for error for all markets that intend to follow specific paths.

In a final analysis, the expert states that “currently technologies aimed at developing mobile applications and web applications remain in the highest demand within the market”.
