French diplomacy reacts to Aziz Akhannouch’s call

During this interview with the continuous news channel, the French diplomat was questioned on “the appeal launched by the head of government, Aziz Akhannouch, inviting France to change its position on the national cause. The latter contented himself with affirming that his country considers the Moroccan autonomy plan as “a serious and credible basis for reaching a fair and credible solution”.

In addition, Patrice Paoli underlined that France aspires to see a “relaunch of negotiations between the parties concerned in order to reach a fair and realistic solution”.

Regarding the announced visit of President Emmanuel Macron to the Kingdom, Paoli did not specify a date in this regard, for lack of information on this subject.

Let us recall that the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, declared in an interview granted to the French newspaper “L’Opinion” that “Paris should not simply be an observer”, especially that “great developments have occurred regarding recognition, by the great powers, of Morocco’s sovereignty over our southern provinces”.

Akhannouch’s appeal is in addition to that addressed more implicitly, a few months ago by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, to France, and this, during the press briefing held on December 16 in Rabat, with his French counterpart, Catherine Colonna.
