Tachometric, telemetric, pulsometric, asthmometric, …
Scales are constantly surveying the watchmaking world. Placed on the bezel or the dial, they perform various useful measurements for their owner. Here is a selection of watches as elegant as they are technical.
TAG Heuer Carrera
Drawing on its affiliation with the automotive world, TAG Heuer is a benchmark in the manufacture of chronographs equipped with a tachymeter scale. Indeed, generally placed on the bezel of the watch, it is used to calculate the average speed of a vehicle between two kilometer markers. Its principle is simple.
All you have to do is start timing when you pass a distance marker (terminal, motorway sign, etc.) then stop it at the next one. Thus, the central hand points, on the bezel, to the average speed over 1,000 meters (1 km). Simple, fast and effective.
The Carrera collection is a classic of its kind. Chosen by Frank Sans C, the chrono with its blue dial, fitted with a matching ceramic fixed bezel, commands attention with its brown leather strap. Sporty and chic as you wish, it features perforations reminiscent of those of the racing drivers’ gloves of the time. In polished and satin-brushed steel, the 44 mm-diameter case finally imposes itself, discreetly on the wrist. Water-resistant to 100 meters, this instrument is powered by a high-performance, in-house Heuer 02 calibre, which offers 80 hours of power reserve.
