Beaumont Health, the largest private hospital company in Michigan, published a study on the dangers of vaping, while formulating advice for parents to recognize if their youngster is used to these products.

1. Increased thirst

Dehydration occurs when the body’s water supply is insufficient. Vaping accentuates the fact of having a dry palate (dry mouth). If you notice your teen increasing their beverage intake, they may be vaping.

2. Desire for salty or spicy food

According to medical society experts, when one is affected by dry mouth, our perception of taste decreases. It is therefore advisable to monitor the eating habits of teenagers who vape.

3. Secret behavior

Although many distance themselves from their parents during their adolescence, Beaumont Health reminds us that we have to worry regarding seeing our child systematically refusing to answer our questions or simply to discuss at length.

4. Money disappearing

The price of the cartridges (pods) has increased in Quebec in recent years, particularly with the imposition of taxes by the federal and provincial governments. Remember that the federal tax is $5 for the first 10 milliliters, with a surcharge of $1 for each additional 10 milliliters. Quebec announced in its last budget that it intends to apply the same tax.

5. The bleeding nose

In addition to dry mouth, vaping causes the nose to dry out. When this tendency is observed and prolonged, your teenager can regularly bleed from the nose.

Parents met by medical experts in Michigan said they were reluctant to discuss vaping with their children. A doctor explains her vision.

“I had this conversation with my teenagers, and it is paramount to do it. There are simply too many misunderstandings related to electronic cigarettes. It’s not normal for young people to find vaping beneficial for their health,” says Dr. Fuller.

In addition to nicotine vapers, cannabis vapers (wax pen) are increasingly coveted by young people. VAT News reported last August that Sherbrooke police had seized 1,300 of these pen-like cigarettes.
