After a rather encouraging start to the match where Union Bordeaux-Bègles took the score on a nice counter from Gimbert (10-0, 15th), the rest was more complicated. The people of Bordeaux have suffered numerous attacks from Gloucester. Leinster – Racing 92 : 36-10
They were told hell. Racing tied with Leinster for more than an hour, but cracked late in the game and was eliminated from the Champions Cup (36-10). As expected, the Irish settled in the Racing camp at the start of the match but the Ile-de-France, led by an exemplary Fickou in defense, did not let go.
Better still, they managed to thwart a less inspired and more undisciplined Leinster than usual (10 penalties in the first period and a yellow card for Larmour). O’Brien eventually found the fault, but young hooker Tarrit answered him on a carried ball.
Trailing 7-5 at the break, Racing might believe it, especially as they took the lead following a superb breakthrough from Russell finding Wade for the try. The hope did not last. Five minutes later, Keane restored a short advantage (12-10, 53rd). Then Racing cracked in the last quarter of an hour, conceding four attempts by the Irish, who will have been full with 20 points taken. P. So.
