This resident, who left her trash cans in the container of the Destination restaurant in the middle of the night, would have been misinformed of the regulations.
She and her family, originally from the Congo, have just moved to the country, barely two months ago.
She says she had no idea how she might dispose of her waste.
A neighbor allegedly told him to dispose of it in the restaurant’s container.
The next day, the owner took revenge. He returned the resident’s waste to his land and then made a publication explaining his behavior.
After thousands of shares on social media, the post was deleted.
The citizen claims to have lived in fear since this event and even fears for the safety of her family.
“I was really upset because I just moved here and I received a lot of threats. There are people who have come to throw garbage cans in front of the house. There are people who came to throw rocks at my window and insult me. Some say I damage the neighborhood, but that was just because I wasn’t well informed. So, I’m a little in shock there, ”says the resident.
The councilor of the Masson-Angers sector, Mario Aubé, wanted to do his duty by going to meet her to explain the policy to her and bring her labels so that she might properly dispose of her waste.
“I took the time to explain to her because she didn’t know the policies. Now she knows how it works. […] At the same time, it is the hard way that this family learned the operating system to recover our garbage here”, says the municipal councilor.
The citizen is studying the possibility of filing a complaint once morest the owner of the restaurant, on the pretext that he shared her personal information on social networks.
