The New York designer Olivia Ballard presented her Fall Winter 2023 collection on January 19, 2023 in her adopted home of Berlin as part of Fashion Week. As a location, she chose the cultural center and event location “Mahalla”, which was once a factory building. The catwalk was set up in an X-shape and the guests were placed around it. The show started with a goosebump-inducing song performance.
Olivia Ballard Fall Winter 2023 Collection – Fashion for everyone
Two spotlights illuminated the catwalk from the darkness. Ballard chose a diverse model casting: every age group, every gender and every body shape was represented. The Olivia Ballard Fall Winter 2023 collection is an evolution from last season: stretchy, mesh fabric is still an important part of her fashion, but this time she also opted for leather and denim as focus materials. Ruffles, knot elements, transparency and cut-outs accentuate the body and put it in the limelight. This is the essence of the label: Olivia Ballard wants to stand for integration and body positivity. The feminine-looking, but unisex-titled garments should be there for everyone, regardless of age, gender or body shape.
Debut at Berlin Fashion Week
New Yorker Olivia Ballard studied art in the USA and moved to Berlin in her early twenties. For her own needs, she began to sew outfits for going out, regarding which she was asked once more and once more and eventually began to take orders. In 2020, during the lockdown, she founded her label to satisfy the longing to dress properly once more. All pieces are handmade and produced in their studio in Neukölln. This season she presented her collection at Berlin Fashion Week for the first time.
