Srinagar: Siachen hero and Param Vir Chakra winner Captain Bana Singh joined the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi, which continues its tour of Jammu. Bana Singh held Rahul’s hand and walked in Katwa, Jammu. Rahul shared the picture with Bana on Twitter.
“Whenever we talk regarding defending India and its ideals, the names of brave sons of the nation like Bana Singh should be invoked. Captain Bana Singh, the Paramaveera Chakra winner who hoisted the tricolor on the snows of Siachen, is an inspiration to me and all patriots.’- Rahul noted.
Bana Singh is a recipient of the country’s highest gallantry award, the Paramaveera Chakra, for ‘Operation Rajevi’. Bana Singh captured Pakistan’s Qaid post in Siachen and hoisted the national flag. Later, Qaid Post was renamed as Bana Post. In Katwa, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Rawat also participated in the Jodo Yatra.
