It was rather badly started on the return from the locker room since they were trailing by two goals, scored in quick succession shortly before the break. Dominating but not in verve in front of the cage, Manchester City conceded the opener because of an error by Ederson. The Brazilian goalkeeper loves to play with fire, but he got burned on an axial raise towards Rodri while Rodrigo Bentancur was prowling, and Dejan Kulusevski was quick to punish him (0-1, 44th). Pep Guardiola’s header in his technical area spoke volumes regarding his disappointment, and his players finished him off seconds later by conceding a second goal on a defensive scramble, Ederson fending off a Harry Kane strike directly on the header from Emerson (0-2, 45th).
