Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister came into politics regarding five years ago as a career changer. Straight from her ORF job to the state government. She summarizes her experiences as follows: “I got into politics and didn’t know a lot of things. Logically, I had to learn that everything is very different when you’re just observing it as a journalist than when you’re right in the middle of it.” That’s why it would be an instructive experience for journalists to switch sides.
She doesn’t find the election campaign itself strenuous: “Basically, I don’t find the election campaign much different than our daily work over the past five years. However, we travel a lot and are much more closely scheduled.” But she gets to know new regions and new people. Teschl-Hofmeister: “I really enjoy it.
