Alec Baldwin will be charged with “culpable homicide” after an accident on the set of a movie

Actor Alec Baldwin will be charged with involuntary manslaughter for accidentally shooting a cinematographer, while starring in the movie “Rust.” The announcement was made official by the Prosecutor’s Office.

Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, issued a statement today in which he reported the charges once morest Baldwin and Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who supervised the weapons on the set of the western movie “Rust.”

After a thorough review of the evidence and the laws of the State of New Mexico, I have determined that there is sufficient evidence to file criminal charges once morest Alec Baldwin and other members of the ‘Rust’ film crew,” Carmack-Altwies said. She also added: “No one is above the law and everyone deserves justice”.

Assistant director David Halls, who had given Baldwin the gun, signed an agreement to plead guilty to negligent use of a deadly weapon, the district attorney’s office said.

Santa Fe County Police Chief Adan Mendoza, who led the first investigation into Hutchins’ death, described “a degree of negligence” on the film set. But he left decisions on possible criminal charges to prosecutors following delivering the results of a year-long investigation in October. That report did not specify how a live bullet ended up on the set.

Baldwin, famous for his roles in “30 Rock” and “The Hunt for Red October” as well as his parody of former President Donald Trump on “Saturday Night Live,” called the incident a “tragic accident.” He sought to clear his reputation by suing the people involved with handling and supplying the loaded gun that they gave him

In his lawsuit, Baldwin alleges that, while working on camera angles with Hutchins during rehearsal for a scene, he pointed the gun in the direction of the cinematographer and pulled back on the firing pin, which fired.

The New Mexico Coroner’s Office determined the shooting was an accident. following performing an autopsy and a review of the reports from the authorities.

The New Mexico Office of Occupational Safety and Health imposed a maximum fine once morest Rust Movie Productions, following detecting serious security breachesincluding testimony that production managers took limited or no action to address two unplanned salvo shots on the set before the fatal shooting.

Rust Movie Productions continues to fight once morest $137,000 fine imposed by regulators who claim that on-set production managers failed to follow industry-standard protocols for firearms safety.
