This is a central question in our project. We all have in mind “one” voice of General de Gaulle, often that of “I understood you” of 1958, or the “Paris martyred, but Paris liberated” of 1944. Except that according to the oldest General’s speech recorded by the BBC, De Gaulle did not speak exactly like that. He was younger (49), less assured. It is on this version, that of De Gaulle of 1940, that we built the vocal reconstruction. Closer to the reality of the time, therefore, but paradoxically further from the voice commonly associated with De Gaulle.
