Vadodara: In Gujarat, the nine-year-old daughter of a diamond merchant took to asceticism following becoming tired of the worldly life. Devanshi, the elder of the two daughters of Jain followers Dhanesh Sanghvi and Ami, became a nun. The ceremony was attended by Jain monk Vijay Kirtiyashuri and around 100 followers.
After performing the ‘diksha’ ceremony, Devanshi will leave all the luxuries and comforts provided by his father and family.
National media reported quoting his family that Devanshi showed inclination towards spiritual life at a very young age. Long before he entered the monastic life, Devanshi traveled a distance of 700 km on foot along with other monks. Along with many other talents, Devanshi had mastered five languages at an early age.
His father, Dhanesh Sanghvi, is the owner of Sanghvi and Sons, a diamond trading store. He has been in the diamond business for thirty years. The main industry is diamond polishing and export. Devanshi also has a four-year-old younger sister.
