A criminal threw a grenade in the face of a Buenos Aires police officer

An episode of particular savagery occurred early Tuesday night in the middle of a police proceeding in José C. Paz. There, a criminal threw a grenade at a member of the Buenos Aires Police.

The event occurred at the intersection of Quirós and Quito streets, in the middle of an operation carried out by the Sub DDI of José C. Paz. Cristian Raúl Villafañes, the target of the operation, launched the projectile at lieutenant Marcelo Leonel Montenegropart of the procedure.

The grenade exploded and injured the neck of Montenegro, who was transferred to the Mercante hospital and is out of danger, according to police sources confirmed to Infobae.

Villafañes was apprehended on the spot. The agents added that they might search homes linked to the detainee to see if he has more grenades or other types of weapons in his possession.

According to members present at the event, the attack on the group dependent on the DDI in San Martín was unleashed following trying to identify a man who ran awayhe jumped over a ditch and threw the explosive at them.

The projectile bounced off the body of Montenegro, who was wounded by the splinters.

In November 2021, members of the Gendarmerie Squadron 1-11-14, who carried out patrol tasks inside the neighborhood of El under flowers, they observed an artifact with characteristics similar to those of a hand grenade, hidden under the access door to a building located on Pasaje San Juan, between Pasaje Sol and Bolívar.

Immediately, the gendarmes secured the area and intervened with the personnel of the Gendarmerie Explosives Disposal Unit, who carried out the lifting of the device and a search in the sector.
