Colo-Colo could give Curicó Unido a hand in their debut in the Copa Libertadores

The albirrojos will not be able to play their debut in the tournament at La Granja Stadium, which is why they are considering Monumental as their substitute home.

After becoming champion of the last National Championship, Colo-Colo will be one of the four Chilean clubs that will be present in the new edition of the Libertadores Cup. The other teams are nublense -who together with the Cacique starts directly in the group stage-, Magellan and United Curico.

Precisely this last cast -classified for phase 2 of the contest- will live a historic debut, as it will be the first time that he has competed in the biggest tournament on the continent at the club level. For this, the “Torteros” will face off once morest Cerro Porteño in the first stage of the competition, duel for which they present an inconvenience: they cannot host the game at the Estadio Bicentenario de La Granja.

The above is due to the Maule venue does not meet the requirements established by Conmebol for international confrontations. This situation has caused the Albirroja leadership to focus its forces on the search for a stadium that will allow them to host their cupbearer debut.

Curicó Unido is looking for the Monumental Stadium to host the next Copa Libertadores.

The Monumental as the house of Curicó?

Given this, from the Curicano club they began to consider a series of alternatives to host the duel once morest the Paraguayan team, where the first option would be the David Arellano Monumental Stadium.

This was announced by En Cancha, from where they assured that the “Curi” plans to lease the “Ruca” to Colo-Colo for the first leg once morest “El Ciclón”, since the Albos venue is one of the Chilean stadiums that meet the standards requested by the governing body of South American football.

In this way, the Cacique’s house might host a Copa Libertadores match before the debut of the albos, since the match between the “Torteros” is scheduled for the Tuesday, February 21, at 9:00 p.m.
