Iranian protest slogans light up Paris’s Eiffel Tower

As a sign of solidarity with the protests in Iran, resistance slogans will be projected onto the Eiffel Tower in Paris for two days. On Monday and Tuesday, “Femme. Vie. Liberté.” (Woman, life, freedom) and “#StopExecutionsInIran”, the city of Paris announced. It was intended to pay tribute to the people of Iran who bravely fought for their freedom while the regime continued to execute protesters.

The death of the Iranian Kurd Jina Mahsa Amini in mid-September last year triggered nationwide protests in Iran. The young woman died in police custody following being arrested by the so-called morality police for violating Islamic dress codes. Since then there have been repeated protests once morest the government’s repressive course and the Islamic system of rule. According to human rights activists, at least 522 people have been killed in the protests. Among them are 70 minors and 68 police and security forces.
