A corpse in his bed for 20 years… according to his fridge

City workers have made a grisly discovery in a condemned house in Cork, Ireland while cleaning up.

A skeleton was in a bed in the residence. And the person may have been dead for more than 20 years according to the expiration date of the butter in the fridge of 2001, reports The Mirror.

Investigators cordoned off the scene around the one-storey house, while firefighters transported the human remains to the morgue at University Hospital Cork. The thesis of the criminal act does not seem to be accepted for the moment.

It appears neighbors of the deceased, described as a reclusive man, believed he had moved out.

Mallow Cllr Liam Madden of Cork Police argues it is ‘amazing’ that the body might have been there undiscovered for over two decades.

“I find it hard to imagine. This has happened before in other towns and villages where someone has been found. If they’re local, it’s a very sad reflection that someone didn’t miss that person,” he adds.

“The big problem is the identification of the body. It will take a long time. In some of these condemned places, people went there to sleep. It might be anyone,” says Mallow Cllr Liam Madden, according to the Mirror.
