Of course, in the endless list of New Year’s resolutions, the desire to engage in good music always has a special place. And this is easy to fulfill, especially in this case. Because the Israeli solo artist Answer Green graces us in the form of her alter ego Nicarus with their third album Sipapu.

Strictly speaking with her fourth, because Sipapu has become a split album, divided into the Stone Buddha and Golden Buddha parts. Both of them have a good EP length and the inclined fan will swallow at first that both parts in all available formats, namely digital and on vinyl, want to be purchased at full price. At this point it should be mentioned that it is worthwhile in any case. Was on both parts Answer Green completely woman and master of her work, be it in production, composition and instrumental performance.

Geballte One-Woman Power in elf Songs

She is supported by the American drummer Garry Naples, one or the other perhaps through his membership in the Progressive Rock Formation Without Waves should be known. The album as a total work of art follows a spiritual concept, like people according to the North American belief Hopi tribal enter the world Sipapu is a term in their language. Here is on the Stone Buddha Part dark, atmospherically dense post / sludge rock with a certain pop content present while on Golden Buddha the melodic and lighter side prevails.

An acoustic work of art

That HERE coupled with a video Tea Party’s Over is a wonderful avant-garde pop track that both rocks and has a shimmering atmosphere. My favorite on Stone Buddha is almost ten minutes Jesus Went Down The Chimney as well as almost as long Sipapu & The Golden Buddha on Golden Buddha, which simply lets the listener bathe in this unreal atmosphere over the entire playing time. Fans of female-fronted post rock and unusual avant-garde pop projects should definitely at least listen to the new work by Nicarus set.

Conclusion
The third album rolled out over two part EPs Sipapu has become an ode to a native spirituality and convinces with a dense and captivating mood. That’s what I call a good start into the musical new year. 8,5 / 10
