A hospitalized patient disconnects her neighbor: “Her ventilator was too noisy”

A septuagenarian, exhausted by the noise of her neighbor’s oxygen machine, decided to disconnect her neighbor, as reported by the Metro media.

The woman unplugged the device twice, the second time causing serious consequences. Indeed, following being disconnected, the patient had to be resuscitated by doctors who then took her to intensive care, but she died there of complications related to oxygen deprivation.

A manslaughter

The septuagenarian was later arrested and charged with attempted manslaughter. The police are currently trying to determine the responsibility of the septuagenarian in the tragedy as well as the circumstances surrounding this death.

Faced with this tragedy, the 41-year-old son of the alleged “murderer” expresses his sadness to the German media: “My mother mightn’t close her eyes because that oxygen machine was making so much noise, it was like a tractor. She was exhausted and on medication. She had no idea what she was doing. But she didn’t want to hurt this woman. It was an act of desperation.

He explains that his mother has always been an upright woman: “My mother worked as a cleaner for over 30 years, raised five children and was never at fault. Now she finds herself in prison, as a frail elderly woman with a serious heart condition.

The son is therefore terrified that she will die in prison.

He also apologized to the victim’s family, saying his mother “deeply regret and ask for forgiveness”.
