With the number of new confirmed cases of Corona 19 showing a decreasing trend every day, attention is drawn to the results of the meeting of the Infectious Disease Crisis Response Advisory Committee (Advisory Committee) to be held on the 17th. At the advisory committee meeting, discussions on measures to adjust the indoor mask duty will be held.

According to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the 15th, as of 0:00 on the same day, 32,570 new corona19 confirmed cases were recorded. This is a decrease of 4,129 from the previous day (36,699).

As of Sunday, it is the lowest level in 12 weeks since October 23rd (26,234). Along with the number of confirmed cases, the number of seriously ill patients and deaths also decreased. As of the same day, the number of severely ill patients in hospital was 499, a decrease of 6 from the previous day (505). The number of severely ill patients fell below 500 for the first time in 29 days since the 17th of last month. The number of deaths was 37, down 8 from the 14th (45).

As the spread of Corona 19 has decreased significantly, attention is focused on the government’s announcement of the conversion of indoor mask recommendations. Previously, the government had announced that it would discuss adjusting the first-stage indoor mask duty if two or more of the four indicators were met. Currently, 3 out of 4 indicators have been met.

The evaluation indicators presented by the government are △weekly cases decreased for more than 2 weeks in a row △weekly new severe cases decreased compared to the previous week △weekly fatality rate less than 0.1% △intensive care bed availability 50% or more △older winter additional vaccination rate 50% or more/infection More than 60% of additional vaccination rates for vulnerable facilities during the winter season. Excluding the dual booster vaccination rate indicator, three indicators meet the conditions.
