Russian striker “Washington Capitals” Alexander Ovechkin repeated the record of Canadian Mike Gartner in the number of seasons in the NHL with 30 goals.
In the match with the Philadelphia Flyers (1:3), Ovechkin spent almost 22 minutes on the ice, scored one puck, made five shots on goal and held a power reception.
Ovechkin has 17 seasons in the NHL in which he scored more than 30 goals in a row, he caught up in this indicator with league record holder Mike Gartner, who retired from the NHL in 1998.
If Ovechkin continues to score goals at this pace, he will have 54 goals by the end of the regular season. In this case, the Russian will overtake Wayne Gretzky in the number of seasons with 40 goals (13), as well as ahead of Gretzky and Mike Bossy in the number of seasons with 50 goals (10).
Also, Ovechkin, in a match with Philadelphia, became the second NHL player following Gretzky to score 400 home and away goals.
Gordie Howe, Jaromir Jagr and Gartner also scored 400 goals in home games earlier in league history, in addition to Gretzky.
Washington on the night of January 17 Moscow time will play away with the New York Islanders.
