According to Russia, Sweden is hiding something about sabotage against the Nord Stream

Russia accuses Sweden of “hiding something” on investigations related to the sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines.

At the end of September last year, explosions occurred on the Nord Stream gas pipeline in the exclusive economic zone of Sweden and Denmark. Swedish and Danish authorities later said the damage was caused by powerful detonations, but Russia said Sweden was hiding something by not sharing details of the investigation into the sabotage. After what happened, several people recalled the words of US President Joe Biden, according to which “they will end Nord Stream 2 if Russia invades Ukraine.”

Traces of explosives were found near the site of the explosion, Sweden said, noting that a saboteur was suspected. The incident was later investigated jointly with Denmark and Germany. For the sake of the example, the latter state saw the incident as a deliberate and pre-planned operation from the beginning, the interesting thing of which is that the CIA warned the country regarding the attack on the Nord Stream weeks before the explosion. In the meantime, the local newspapers already reported that “high explosives” were used to damage the natural gas pipeline.

Russia “can reveal the harsh truth”

The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office launched an investigation into an international terrorist act. By the way, Russia already shut down the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline for maintenance work in August, citing the fact that it cannot repair the gas turbines due to Western sanctions. Vladimir Putin also accused the UK Navy of having something to do with the bombings.

According to the Russians, Sweden is hiding something regarding the results of the investigation, in connection with which Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated as follows:

“In the course of an objective investigation, Russian experts may come to unpleasant conclusions and reveal to the public the harsh truth regarding who was the saboteur and who is responsible for the terrorist attacks. – readable in the statement of the Russian news agency TASS “Hiding the facts is evidence that the Swedish authorities are hiding something.”
