The Organization for Justice and Development monitored the phenomenon of scarcity and disappearance of fish from the Nile River in some governorates of Upper Egypt in Qena, Sohag and Assiut governorates, due to negligence on the part of the Fish Wealth Authority and the failure to place fish seed in the Nile River, indiscriminate fishing and electric fishing in several areas, in addition to the spread of American crayfish inside the Nile River
The official spokesman of the organization, Zeidan Al-Qenai, monitored several complaints due to the fact that a number of fishermen from Kafr El-Sheikh governorate fished in the governorates of Upper Egypt, Qena, Sohag, and several areas, using the so-called habla, which is narrow nets that kill fish fry and cause the extinction of fish and the elimination of small fish.
