An empathetic robber in Auderghem: ‘He took pity on the little money we had to give him and gave up’

This Thursday evening around 5 p.m., the staff of a wine merchant in Auderghem was confronted with an armed robbery. A man dressed in black with a motorcycle helmet on his head burst into the offices of wine merchant “Vinalgros”. Very quickly, he pointed a gun at the manager of the establishment and his collaborator, demanding the recipe of the day. It was without knowing that in the box, there were only a few tickets for a total of a meager loot of 110 euros. “He insisted on threatening us with his gun so that we gave him more believing that there was a lot of money elsewhere“, explains Michael Thill, the manager of the place.

We then explained to him that the situation of the small traders was very critical, that following having paid all our expenses, our salaries, our taxes and our other expenses, we have nothing more left. We tried to explain to him that the robbery had already taken place before, on a daily basis, with all these charges.“, testifies the manager still jostled by his adventure. He also explained to him that few of his customers still pay with cash.

Keep your money

The individual then seems to understand, hesitates and decides to give up. “I saw him lower his weapon, continue Michael Thill“to tell me, finally, annoyed, to keep my money. that we live today and the little money we had to give him“. The robber therefore left empty-handed from this expedition.

Shocked, however, the manager decided to file a complaint and provided the CCTV footage to the police. “We live today less easily than yesterday what happened. We were still restrained at gunpoint for almost a minute. It’s not easy to live“, would like to point out Michael Thill before admitting to being grateful to the robber for having left them the money without breaking anything.
