“Yesterday/Wednesday there was an overall agreement that the complaint would be withdrawn. Everything was in order. But apparently the complainant did not withdraw his complaint in the end. We had an agreement to stop the proceedings, but now we have to find a new solution,” Maron said on Thursday evening.

Minister Maron cannot simply lift or cancel Brussels Environment’s decision. Indeed, this decision has a legal basis. If the Fuse nightclub opened anyway and did not comply with the decision, it might face serious penalties. “Everyone has to obey the law. But we are looking for a solution to keep the Fuse open, and respect the law. Nobody wants the Fuse closed, we agree on this in the government,” said Mr. Brown.
The Environmental College, an appeals body, must now rule on Fuse’s appeal, but the decision might remain the same. But Minister Maron further clarifies: “We might imagine, as was the case yesterday, an agreement that would allow the procedure to end on its own. We must find a way to do it”. It is therefore a matter of finding an arrangement for the local resident to withdraw his complaint.
