Anahí Bulnes case: the family asks to thoroughly rake the waste burial site

Anahí Bulnes (36) is still missing. 38 days have already passed since the early morning of December 5 when she left her house and nothing more has been heard regarding her. On Monday, December 26, the home of Santiago Campos Matos (37), in the center of the city of Córdoba, was raided by order of the prosecutor Eugenia Pérez Moreno. The man was arrested and charged with simple homicide and, since then, has remained in the Bouwer prison.

After a DNA test confirmed that the blood found in the defendant’s apartment was from Anahí, the victim’s family already assumes the worst end.

That is why in the last hours, and with grief on the surface, the family and their lawyer, Daniela Morales Leanza, requested that a search be deepened in the Piedras Blancas waste burial site, located on the southern outskirts from the city of Cordoba. The fear and suspicion is that the remains might be there, among the tons of waste deposited by the trucks.

That property was already quickly inspected weeks ago, by court order.

The family asked that the sector (or lot) where waste has been dumped since December 5 be preserved and not further altered.

“We are very bad, these are very difficult days,” he told The voice Anahí’s sister, Verónica Bulnes (44), who added that they asked that the burial site be raked.

“We want to find my sister’s body, be able to grieve and have her grave where we can mourn her,” he explained.

Prepare a raid operation

It is expected that on Friday, municipal officials with knowledge of the operation of Piedras Blancas will go to the prosecutor’s office to specify technical aspects of the property that may be useful in the search.

The waste burial system is not arbitrary, but responds to a planning system whereby urban solid waste is deposited in lots that, once saturated, are covered with earth to achieve its degradation. It is thanks to this that it is possible to determine with precision which would be the lot where to carry out the raking.

It will not be an easy job. The remains being sought might be under 10 meters of dirt and debris.

The Police and the Department of High Risk Units (Duar) of the Fire Department of the force are planning an operation that might be carried out at any moment. It is planned to work with trained dogs.

Investigation of the accused: will he testify?

Meanwhile, the procedural situation of Campos Matos is worsening and the prosecutor’s summons to take an investigative statement is imminent, which might happen this Friday.

For the moment at least, the defendant is represented by a public legal adviser, and judicial sources advanced that the defense strategy is probably that of Campos Matos refraining from testifying.

psychological profile

The psychological profile of the defendant is one of the elements that must be reconstructed in the coming days. The man has a serious history of previous complaints that include violence and abuse, but the psychiatric expert reports that are required to confirm that he is a criminally responsible person have not yet been carried out.

After the investigative statement of the detainee, the summary secrecy on the cause will be lifted, with which it will be possible to know in detail what the investigations have been carried out so far, as well as the evidence collected in the investigation.

The clothes found in Costanera are not from Anahí

According to reports, relatives of the victim indicated before the Justice that the clothes found in the procedures of days ago are not Anahí’s.

These are garments and footwear that were found in the context of operations carried out by firefighters and police near the Suquía River waterfront and in the vicinity of the bridge on Avenida 24 de Septiembre, near where the defendant lived.
