Spanish media reported on Thursday that Joao Mendez, son of former Brazil and Barcelona striker Ronaldinho, is undergoing trials with the Barcelona youth team.
And the Spanish newspaper Sport reported that the 17-year-old player, who ended his contract with the Brazilian club Cruzeiro, may join the Barcelona Youth Academy in a move that is personally supervised by club president Joan Laporta.
Ronaldinho, who is now an ambassador for the club, spent five years at Camp Nou as a player from 2003 to 2008.
He played more than 200 matches for Barcelona, scored nearly 100 goals and helped them win the Champions League and two La Liga titles. He was part of the Brazilian national team that won the 2002 World Cup.
